WELCOME TO CHAMPLAIN ISLANDS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Each of our churches collects offering or tithes. We also send out letters to our community seeking their financial support once or twice a year. Much of this is used to maintain the operations of the local congregation, from the weekly worship, small groups, exercise classes, and countless other groups that use our space. Additionally, all three of our churches set aside about 15% of their annual budget to support various missions beyond our local church. For the past several years, we have paid 100% of our "mission shares" which supports various missions both in Vermont, as well as worldwide. Please consider supporting us in our mission by making a contribution today!
We welcome all people to join us for communion. Communion is served the first Sunday of each month, and occasionally at additional services. We recognize that the communion table is God's table, not the church's table, and God invites all people to receive grace. We invite all people who wish to repent of sin and receive a blessing from the lord to come forward to receive communion. You are not required to take communion if you come on a communion Sunday; we respect each person's individual choice. Also, if you would like to receive communion but are unable to walk to the front of the church in the middle of a service, we are happy to come serve you in the pews. Though not always, we mostly serve communion by the method of intinction, where a common loaf of bread is used, a small piece is given to each participant, the recipient then dips the bread in juice (we do not use wine) and takes both elements together.
YES! We believe that it is our responsibility to raise and grow our next generation in faithful and supportive environments. Children are welcome to attend any service or activity we hold. We know children may be messy or noise, but we welcome them and the joy they bring with them.
We are not currently offering Sunday school classes for children, but if we get enough to attend on a regular basis, we would absolutely love to make that happen!
